A Little History…

The Simmons Family has been growing and selling agricultural products in the South Hills of Pittsburgh for over 100 years.

Some time in the mid 1800s, Henry Simmons and wife Barbara Simmons came to the US from Germany, along with son Jacob and his wife Margaret.  The Simmons family settled. in the area now known as Baldwin-Whitehall, where they began growing fruits, vegetables, chickens, and dairy. All of their products were delivered straight to home by horse and buggy.

In the early 1940’s, Jacob’s son Earl Sr., along with his wife Irene, son Earl Jr. and his wife, Dolores, moved the farm to its current location in Peters Township, Washington County Pennsylvania.  The 5th generation, Scott and wife Jan, Bob and wife Jean; along with 6th generation Jeremy and wife Megan, currently run the farm.

The main focus of the Simmons’ Family Farm is and always will be to grow and sell great, safe, healthy, and fresh produce directly to families in the Pittsburgh area.  The majority of our produce is picked and sold the same day. This practice provides customers with the highest quality produce in freshness and flavor.

Over the last 40 years Simmons Farm has expanded its offerings to include; flowers, bedding plants, Christmas trees and pick your own products.  Come on out to the farm or visit our roadside stand on Route 19/Washington Rd., in McMurray and pick up our locally grown high quality products today!

Thank you
